Super-Pufft USA, Inc., is a minority-owned snack foods and beverage manufacturer located in Perry, Florida. Founded over 60 years ago, Super-Pufft is recognized worldwide and is a key supplier for brand name snack food companies. The company also manufactures products under its own brands and private labels, which are sold at retail and grocery chains.

Super-Pufft has a long history of working with the City of Perry and the Taylor County Development Authority to enhance employment opportunities in this rural area, which has suffered from out-migration of employers and residents over recent years. Since 2020, Taylor County has lost more than 2% of its population. Prior to Super-Pufft’s arrival in Perry, the vast majority of the low-income community relied on cyclical employment with no stability or benefits.

Super-Pufft utilized New Market Tax Credit proceeds to finance the construction and equipment purchases for a new 48,500 square-foot logistics and distribution facility in Perry. Super-Pufft has played a significant role in mitigating the non-metropolitan community’s concerns of high unemployment and resident out-migration. The company is the only manufacturing facility for the area, and it is strongly supported by local city and economic development leaders.

Project Impact

  • Created 347 quality jobs with comprehensive benefits and access to job-training programs geared towards upward mobility within the company.
  • 100% of jobs are accessible to individuals with a high school diploma or less and provide a critical need for a county where only 82% of residents 25 and older are high school graduates (a graduation rate 6% less than the national average).
