Overview

The purpose of this job is to provide day-to-day technical support for the Middle Market & Corporate Banking Relationship Managers and Portfolio Managers in serving the needs of clients and prospects, with regard to loans, deposits, cash management, wealth management, and insurance products. Support should be provided in all aspects of the middle market & corporate banking process to ensure successful full-service relationships.

 

Level II Additional Position Summary: The purpose of this job is to utilize advanced knowledge and experience of acceptable middle market & corporate banking practices to provide day-to-day assistance for the Middle Market & Corporate Banking Relationship Managers and Portfolio Managers (all of the duties of CRM Assistant I, plus) complicated portfolio management, perfection of loan documentation, and technical assistance, as needed, to ensure timely and accurate coordination of reviews, loan renewals, loan modifications, exceptions and compliance resolution, and all other aspects of the corporate banking and portfolio management processes.

 

This position may be filled as a Level I or II.  Additional responsibilities and qualifications apply.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide administrative support for the department. Duties include but not limited to answering phones, referring calls to appropriate staff, preparing correspondence, preparing memos, preparing/pulling reports, ordering supplies, and submitting maintenance requests, training new associates, and distributing mail.
  • During the application/underwriting stage and prior to loan closings, duties include but not limited to: gathering information from clients and prospects, inputting applicable information for clients and prospects into various bank systems, ordering credit reports, preparing loan applications and other required forms (such as Policy Exception Form, Real Estate Worksheet, Flood Determinations/Status Update Forms, CIP Forms, Compliance Checklists, etc.), ordering loan documents, communicating with CDP to answer questions about loan documents, gathering Beneficial Ownership information, preparing Beneficial Ownership Certification Forms, and preparing loan document packages for closings.
  • During the loan closing and post-closing stages, duties include but not limited to: preparing the loan closing package for booking, submitting the loan closing package for booking, verifying loans book accurately (including rate, payments schedule, maturity, etc.), sending the original loan closing package to Loan Operations, disbursing loan advances, quoting payoffs, working with the Portfolio Managers to monitor loan covenants and financial reporting, submitting loan covenants and financial reporting into various bank systems, working with Relationship Managers and Portfolio Managers with collateral releases and Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) requests, and retrieving and utilizing information on sweep accounts.
  • Interact with other departments, including but not limited to: Retail Banking, Loan Operations, Central Document Processing (CDP), Wire Transfer, Corporate Treasury Services, Mail Distribution, Compliance, Credit Analysis, Credit Administration, Credit Operations, ACH Operations, Loan Operations, Corporate Treasury Services, Wealth Management, and the Legal Department.
  • Assisting customers with general banking functions as needed including but not limited to: transferring funds, processing loan payments, setting up loan payment auto draft, collecting/waiving late fees, collecting loan and Letter of Credit Fees, keeping participation/syndicated loans in balance, and opening and performing maintenance for deposit accounts.
  • Provide excellent customer service to all clients and prospects, internally and externally.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma
  • Minimum of five (5) years of previous experience as a Loan Assistant – Corporate Banking or proven equivalent
  • Knowledge of general banking and corporate banking procedures and practices
  • Accounting and mathematical aptitude
  • Due to the critical element of customer exposure, the qualified associate must demonstrate excellent customer service ability in addition to each of the following:
    • Excellent interpersonal skills
    • Good organizational skills with demonstrable ability to multitask
    • Good communication skills (verbal and written) while demonstrating ability to use lending terminology
    • Good time management skills
    • Intermediate computer skills, including function ability with Word, Excel, and other bank systems (such as Microsoft Office applications, ALS, M&I, OnDemand, nCino, etc.) necessary to perform tasks (typing skills- test 30 wpm)
    • MUST be able to exercise confidentiality with sensitive information
  • 2-year degree with business administration emphasis preferred

Level II Additional Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Middle Market & Corporate Banking Assistant I or proven equivalent
  • Knowledge of advanced banking and middle market & corporate banking procedures and practices
  • Familiarity with legal concepts involving corporate lending and knowledge of when and whom to forward escalated concerns
  • Functional understanding of UCCs, Deeds of Trust, Borrowing Base Certificates, Letters of Credit, Participation loans, and Sweep Accounts
  • Due to the critical element of customer exposure, the qualified associate must demonstrate excellent customer service ability in addition to each of the following:
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational skills with demonstrable ability to effectively multitask
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) while demonstrating ability to effectively use lending terminology
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other bank systems ( such as Microsoft Office applications, ALS, M&I, OnDemand, nCino, etc) necessary to perform tasks
  • MUST be able to exercise confidentiality with sensitive information
  • College degree preferred
