Overview

The purpose of this job is to review and evaluate consumer loan applications in a centralized underwriting environment and render approval or denial decisions based upon bank policy, underwriting guidelines, and related state and federal regulations.

 

Responsibilities:
  • Approve, decline, or conditionally approve consumer loan applications and provide supporting documentation
  • Perform analysis of each credit transaction by reviewing the credit score, ability to repay, collateral, structure, personal liquidity, and other relevant factors
  • Prepare loan recommendations for the HMDA Retail Second Review Committee
  • Ensure compliance with all Bank regulatory requirements
  • Interact with Loan Officers to gather the information necessary to analyze each loan application
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Four-year college education OR High School Diploma with two years of direct consumer underwriting experience
  • Basic knowledge of consumer credit analysis with work experience in consumer lending
  • Basic knowledge of bank lending policies and related regulatory requirements
  • Basic knowledge of credit scoring principles and principles of finance
  • General knowledge of loan documentation and lien perfection requirements
  • Communication skills
  • Basic Computer skills
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Working knowledge of Action Underwriting System preferred 
  • Basic knowledge of Trustmark Consumer Credit products preferred
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications preferrred
