The position has responsibility for the strategy and growth of commercial banking market share for an assigned region.

  • Cross-train, lead and develop team of associates to promote maximum productivity, engagement, succession planning and overall contribution to strategic organizational goals
  • Responsible for the P&L for the region of assigned commercial bankers
  • Actively lead individual direct reports to optimal performance through a commitment to strong coaching routines and techniques; provide direct feedback to lenders while holding them accountable for goals, performance objectives and KPIs
  • Drive commercial acquisition and retention by providing a complete set of Commercial Banking Solutions
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of competitors products and services and implement new commercial services and pricing models which are more competitive in the market
  • Build strong, effective partnerships with colleagues across the enterprise to work together and collaborate to remove roadblocks for success
  • Proactively support referrals to other business lines that result in additional revenue
  • Ensure there are comprehensive policies and procedures for commercial banking and appropriate controls in place to ensure commercial banking is prudent and in compliance with the bank’s risk appetite including loan and credit quality
  • Collaborate with the Risk division to ensure commercial banking is prudent and the non-performing loan ratio is within the acceptable risk tolerance limits
  • Actively participates and creates opportunities for banker participation in community organizations to source business development opportunities and demonstrate commitment to the location community
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business or related field or commensurate work experience
  • Minimum eight years of business development and leadership experience in a financial institution with a proven record of success building and growing customer relationships
  • Minimum ten years commercial banking experience, involving strong credit knowledge and skills which align with the established qualification standards
  • Prior experience with managing teams in multiple locations is preferred
  • Prior experience with coaching teams to provide innovative solutions tailored to customer needs
  • Influential communication with the ability to coach by observation and interaction, focused on continually developing and mentoring the team
  • Strong financial and business acumen which includes knowledge of bank products/services, lending/fair lending, collateral management, and regulations required.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to solve practical problems
  • Demonstrated ability to hold team members accountable to high standards of performance
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change and follow through on change initiatives
  • Demonstrated experience with sales strategy and sales process development
  • Excellent PC skills, including word processing and spreadsheets via Microsoft Office products as well as custom applications and system
  • Excellent analytical, time management, organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-task and work in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Must be able to exercise confidentiality with sensitive information
